Inside The Island Adventures
The Island Adventures is our pirate book. A little macaw named Azul gets swept out to sea, joins a pirate crew and flies straight into the storm to help them.
The story
Captain Brightsword and her crew pull Azul aboard, and with First Mate Scales the iguana, they go looking for what's causing the wild winds.

Behind the scenes
-

A secret title. We posted clues instead: a captain, a storm, an unlikely crew and a glowing cave with something nobody expected inside.
-

Azul's first sketch. His wings were already wide open.
Fun facts to share at bedtime
-

Macaws can copy sounds, solve puzzles and often stay with the same partner for life.
-

Iguanas have a third eye on top of their heads that senses light and shadow. Many are strong swimmers, just like Scales.
-

Many jellyfish make their own light. It's called bioluminescence. In the book, they glow like little lanterns.
-

The Hydra comes from Greek myths: cut off one head and two grew back. Ours is a baby with just two heads.
-

Treasure maps marked with an X were made famous by adventure stories like Treasure Island. Real pirates almost never buried their treasure.
-

Real pirate crews had rules. Many voted on big decisions and agreed on how to share treasure.
The heart of the story
Azul may be little, but he's the one who flies into the storm. He wakes the hydra with a kind voice, and she calms the wind. Then the captain sees where he's led them:
Wait... this is the island we've been searching for!
Ask at bedtime What would you do if you found a sleepy dragon in a cave?
The characters (and their map)
Each character has a print of their own, and so does the pirate map that guides them.
